Aboriginal symbols are a essential part of the Aboriginal way of life, used to maintain the stories and traditions of the culture. Symbols or icons were originally found in caves, rocks and on bark. Today they can be regularly found within paintings and various artifacts. Aboriginal symbols can have several meanings and reasons for being used. Aboriginal people used symbols to indicate sacred sites and often used them in different religious ceremonies.
